Terms of use
The agreement between you and the operator of this site. Short, and written to be read.

Anything in square brackets is a placeholder. It has to be filled in with the operator's real details before this site goes live.
Accepting these terms
Using PirepAero means accepting these terms and the community guidelines, which form part of them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over. Below that age, no account.
Not for operational use
PirepAero is not an aeronautical information source. It never replaces the AIP, NOTAMs, charts, the aircraft flight manual, or your own pre-flight preparation.
Everything on the aerodrome side is what a member of the public reported having seen on a particular day. It may be wrong, it may have been true and stopped being true, and it may be missing altogether. The verification states and the dates exist so you can judge that for yourself; they are not a warranty.
You are the pilot in command. Decisions about a flight are yours, and they are made from official sources. To the extent the law allows, the operator gives no warranty of accuracy, currency or completeness and accepts no liability for decisions made using this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and for fraud.
Acceptable use
Contribute in good faith, from your own experience, with the date you were there.
The ten content rules in the community guidelines are binding: no radio frequencies, no weather minima, no instrument procedures, no reproduced charts, no temporary information, no third-party personal data, no undated reports, and no performance advice.
Do not harass anyone, do not impersonate anyone, do not advertise, and do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload.
Automated bulk access is not permitted. The public API exists for programmatic access to structural data and has its own rate limit; scraping the site instead is a breach of these terms.
Community guidelinesCost sharing is prohibited
You may use PirepAero to find people to fly with, socially. You may not use it to offer, seek, advertise, negotiate or arrange any payment, contribution or cost sharing for a flight, in any wording and in any part of the site.
This is an absolute rule here, independent of what the applicable air law would permit. Content that breaches it is removed, and repeated breaches end the account.
What happens to what you contribute
You keep whatever rights you have in what you write and photograph. You grant the operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display, translate, adapt for layout and moderate your contributions on PirepAero, for as long as the site operates.
Your contributions stay visible on the site. The record is append-only: a value can be superseded or reverted, but the history is not erasable, because other people's confirmations and the verification state of a field are built on it. Do not contribute anything you would need to be able to withdraw.
Structural aerodrome data — identification, position, runways, links to official sources — is published under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0) and may be reused with attribution. Soft knowledge values, verification records, authorship and comments are not licensed for reuse: they are visible on the site, and that is all. The public API and the data dumps carry only the structural layer.
You confirm that what you upload is yours to upload, that photos are your own, and that you have consent from anyone identifiable in them.
Moderation, reports and appeals
Submissions are checked automatically against the content rules and may be refused at once, with the rule named. Others are held for a human. Moderators can remove content, revert a change and suspend accounts.
Every moderation decision that resolves a dispute or a content report requires a written reason — the database refuses a decision without one. You are told the reason, and you can appeal it.
Anyone can report illegal or non-compliant content through the report page. Reports get a ticket reference, are decided with a reason, and are counted in the public transparency record, in line with the Digital Services Act.
PirepAero hosts community content and does not certify it. It puts no editorial seal on any fact, which is both a design decision and the basis on which it operates as a hosting service.
Report contentAvailability and changes
The service is free and provided as it is. There is no uptime commitment, features can change, and the site can stop.
These terms can change. Material changes are announced on the site and, for account holders, by email; the date at the top always says when they last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Disputes go to the courts of Ireland, again without prejudice to your right to bring a claim where you live.
